Most guest photos arrive after the event
They don't usually show up while the party is still going.
In paid InvitePix galleries we looked at, about 77% of completed uploads arrived after the event calendar day (in each gallery's local timezone). About 18% arrived on the day itself. The rest were early: someone testing the QR, perhaps a bridal shower photo, or maybe a few shots before guests arrived. Among the photos with dimensions recorded, about 88% still had a long edge of at least 3,000 pixels.
That timing matters. Guests are not forgetting your event at midnight. They go home, open the camera roll, and upload over the next day or two. If you close the gallery that night, you are mostly waiting on a group chat anyway.

This is not the afterparty leaking past 12:00
A wedding that runs past midnight will still push a few files into the next calendar day. That is a small slice of the total, not the pattern.
Most of the "after" uploads do not arrive in the first hours past midnight. They show up later the next day, over that week, and some still trickle in after that. Guests go home, sleep on it, open the camera roll, and remember the QR code and your gallery. Galleries are filling up after the celebration, not during it.
The files are still the originals
That 88% figure is close to what the phone captured, not what WhatsApp or iMessage compressed and then uploaded.
Chat threads are easy in the moment and ugly in your album. A shared Google Photos album sounds familiar, but uploading still requires a Google account, and a lot of guests will not bother.
The QR gallery path is easier: scan, select, upload, no app, no login. See how it works for weddings.
What to set up before the event
Put the QR on a welcome sign and on the tables. If you need print-ready cards, the free QR table card generator outputs a 300 DPI PDF. A single easel by the door is easy to walk past.
Print a short link under the code for the guest who will not scan.
Say it out loud once: no app, no account, scan and upload.
Keep the gallery open after your event date. The last dance is not the deadline. One text or email the next day or two is plenty.
Download the ZIP when you are ready. Do not treat the group chat as the archive.
Guest video uses the same easy uploads as photos. See pricing for which packages include it.
How we counted this
These figures come from a snapshot of paid InvitePix customer galleries, excluding free marketing galleries, test events, and cancelled or refunded orders. We counted completed uploads only, meaning the file actually finished transferring.
"After the event" means after local midnight at the end of the event date, in the timezone saved on that gallery. We do not have ceremony start and end times, so we checked the late-night window separately. It accounts for a small share of the "after" total.
"Full resolution" means a recorded long edge of at least 3,000 pixels.
These are usage rates from a subset of our own product data, not a survey of every wedding or every photo-sharing app.
